New Baby Sister

Corinne got a new sister today. She is very excited to be the "new helper." Pray for her as she gets adjusted!

Michigan Trip

Lots of driving for daddy meant lots of coffee - this an especially good cup.  

There was a great hotdog joint in Rochester, MI - suburb of Detroit.  Great Chicago-dogs.

This was on the way home in Cincinnati.  We stopped at a Pizza place for dinner.  Corinne and Owen had a good time getting out of the car and playing in the courtyard.

God is Everywhere

Corinne and I spent quite a long time with Catechism #9: Does God have a body like ours? No; God is a Spirit, infinite and eternal.

That was a difficult one conceptually, but it brought great conversations about the greatness of God and the mystery of his Being.  There were many times when I had to confess to Corinne, Daddy doesn't understand everything about God either and he has a hard time grasping who God is.  

The next two questions have been easier for Corinne and have helped explain #9.  Here they are:

10.Q. Where is God?
A. God is everywhere (Ps 139:7-12; Jer 23:23,24; Acts 17:27,28).

11.Q. Can you see God?
A. No. I cannot see God, but he always sees me (Ex 33:20; Jn 1:18; 1 Tim 6:16; Ps 139 esp. vv. 1-5: Pr 5:21; Hb 4:12, 13).

If God has a body like ours (or a body at all and not a Spirit) then he cannot be everywhere.  He will be limited.  And if God has a body like ours, we would be able to see him.  But we can't because he is Spirit.  But he can always see us, which should put a fear in not only young children to obey mommy and daddy when they are alone, but also for adults to walk with integrity even when other people are not around.  But Corinne is learning that the fact that God always sees everyone is not only something that should put fear in our hearts, but also peace that our Father in heaven can love and care for us perfectly because he always sees us.

Waterfront Park

Saturday we all went to the Waterfront Park here in Louisville.  We had a good time walking around and playing at the park.  Here are a few pics:

Corinne is now on the 9th question of her catechism.  Its a difficult one that may take a little longer to conquer.  Here it is:

Does God have a body like ours?  No; God is Spirit, infinite, and eternal.

This is a little difficult to grasp and it spawned a conversation of how God is not limited to a body.  She is beginning to see that God may be more than just a larger version of us.

John the Baptist

Today, Corinne and I (Owen stayed around for a minute or two) read Part 15 of the Big Picture Story Bible entitled "God's New People are Called."  The story introduced the identity of John the Baptist and did a wonderful job of contrasting the character of John with who Jesus was:

• Jesus was the Promised One
• The promised King
• The Son of God
• The Lamb who would take away the sins of the world!

First Seven Catechism Questions

Corinne and I are working through "A Catechism for Boys and Girls".  Here are the questions we did today:

1.Q. Who made you?
A. God made me (Gn 1:26, 27; 2:7; Ec 12:1; Acts 17:24-29).

2.Q. What else did God make?
A. God made all things (Gn 1, esp. verses 1, 31; Acts 14:15; Rm 11:36; Col 1:16).

3.Q. Why did God make you and all things?
A. For his own glory (Ps 19:1; Jer 9:23, 24; Rv 4:11; 4:15).

4.Q. How can you glorify God?
A. By loving him and doing what he commands (Ec 12:13; Mk 12:29-31; In 15:8-10; 1 Cor 10:31).

5.Q. Why ought you to glorify God?
A. Because he made me and takes care of me (Rm 11:36; Rv 4:11; cf. Dan 4:39).

6.Q. Are there more gods than one?
A. There is only one God (Deut 6:4; Jer 10:10; Mk 12:29; Acts 17:22-31).

7.Q. In how many persons does this one God exist?
A. In three persons (Mt 3:16, 17; Jn 5:23; 10:30; 14:9, 10; 15:26; 16:13-15; 1 In 5:20, 2 In 9; Rv 1:4, 5).
